A Homemaker's Daughter

Children are born people. They have a mind, body, and soul just like you. They love to learn right from the beginning. They get into evertthing, don't kill that love.

If given the opportunity they will teach them selves but the opportunity has to be there. How do we give them this opportunity? By being in direct contact with the best books. Not just a paragraph here and there but the entire book. Living books have lives, emotion, people are married, and pass away. Textbooks are just big books full of facts. They aren't very fun to read and you will kill the childs natural love to learn if you use them all the time.

Textbooks have coprehension questions or work books to verify knowledge. The child will memorize the answers for the test and then forget it. If you use living books you rely on narration to verify knowledge. Have the child tell back what he just read. The child will read it to remeber it, not just to make mom happy.

At the end of the school year the child will have an examination to see what the child DOES know, not to see what they DON'T know. Public schools today teach a body of information then test to see what the students do not catch but what about what they do catch?
